Playing time is not determined by "talent" alone. Having basketball skills is great. BUT . . .

Playing time is also determined by leadership; decision making; trust by coaches and teammates; confidence; minimal errors; matchups; cohesion with other players; knowledge of the offense, defense, and game plan; and more.

I would put a lot of stock in some of the more seasoned players being ahead in the process as the season begins. They just have significant experience that the younger plays don't, even if the talent and athleticism is different.
