What are good areas to stay in around Anchorage? Should I try

Japan Coug Intervention Needed

to stay close to downtown or the waterfront? Or maybe it doesn’t matter that much there? I’m trying to book a hotel or Airbnb/Vrbo, but I have no idea what makes sense there. Will be for 2 nights at end of June. TIA.

Wouldn’t stay in downtown, it’s getting pretty dicey. South Anchorage is quite nice. As is waterfront.

Girdwood is nice, though doubtful you’ll get accommodations there on this short notice this time of year

About an hour south. Beautiful place.

It’s not that far. The Spa at Alyeska is nice. Resort ski town. 30-40 min away

Alyeska to Anchorage Airport is 50-60 min without traffic. No way it’s ever 30 min. I’ve driven it many times.

You must drive slow! I can get from Girdwood to Eagle River in 60 min.

I’d get a VRBO/airbnb outside of Anchorage like Seward or Palmer

Seward is 2 hours away, so tough to do if you’re going to do stuff in Anchorage.

Go rent bikes from Pete at Downtown Bicycle and ride the coastal trail. Eat at South and Moose’s Tooth.
