We have a pretty good local mountain bike group here that does a lot of work to keep trails in good shape. Everyone (generally) takes the rules seriously about not riding the trails when they are closed due to rain or other issues. And they are pretty unanimous in giving people crap when they brake any of the rules for any reason.

But when someone breaks the law and brings their unleashed dogs on the trail with them, you're a ****** if you criticize them for breaking the rules.

It's a strange dynamic.
