Sitake (and other BYU coaches) were all innoculated with being fire-proof through at least this season. I mean you have give these coaches at least 2 seasons to adjust to P4/5 competition (despite having 2 years to prepare), right? And how can you disapprove of a coach with a winning record (because it was compiled mostly during Indepedence with a middling strength of schedule plus the benefit of the cupcake asterisk Covid season)?
Interestingly, the good BYU coaches (Taylor, Pope, Eyestone, and Rockwood) were all instantly competitive in the B12. I guess that's unfair to expect the HC of the largest private university in the country who is earning a seven-figure salary to be competitive and not have had collapses in 3 of his 8 seasons (2017, 2022, 2023).
