I hit a curb with some carbon rims. Now there’s a clear bump on the rim where it hit the curb. It’s a tubular rim, so it doesn’t have the same raised sides as a clincher. Looking at a tubular, where the tire sits is more like an arc than a prounounced “u.” But the bump is on both sides. The rim didn’t fail, and frankly I didn’t even notice the bump for a while. But when I was riding much later I noticed there was a “thump thump thump” when I hit the rim brakes (it was when the bump passed through the brake pads).
Notwithstanding it didn’t fail, I stopped riding the wheel. Just wondering if the universal consensus is that I should not ride it anymore. As it turns out I could really use a new set of wheels and have this and its companion just sitting there.
Thoughts?
