Let me ask you a question, would you prefer if Michael Jordan played basketball
or baseball? Now, 90s Jordan was a generationally unique athlete. His mixture of skills, discipline, competitiveness, and drive propelled him to the all-time-great category. Not just of basketball, but of the list of all time great athletes. Now, he is a person with free will, and can make up his own mind about what he wants to do. But, do you want him playing baseball or basketball?

Far more important than basketball, Elon Musk's companies have revolutionized access to space, internet communication, solar energy, electric cars, self-driving cars. Heck, those are just the things that have pushed out of development. Neurolink could fix paralysis and other physical diseases.

It is hard to overstate just how crazy SpaceX has straight up taken the Space Industry. No one is close. He is putting ULA (Boeing/Lokheed) out of business. He has all but put the Europeans out of business. The russians have lost any competitive advantage they had, and I'd be surprised if they last that much longer. The chinese are competing only because it is a national security priority, and the CCP is dumping money like crazy to catch up. Blue Origin and Jeff Bezos . . . are not regarded very well. If I recall correctly, SpaceX is on course to launch more than two rockets a week in 2024.

I want to see Musk's companies land US Astronauts on the moon and Mars. I want giant arrays of space telescopes far larger than the Webb telescope. I want point to point travel on earth taking just an hour. I want to take a nap in my car while it drives two hours so I can go to a business meeting. I want solar panels and batteries so that I can be independent of the electrical grid. I hope that paralysis and other diseases that rob people of their mobility can be cured.

Every minute running Twitter or getting into fights with Senators distracts from his attention on those other problems. He said stupid things about Covid. He picked stupid fights with Senators Warren and Sanders. Now, I think those two are clowns who should not be in positions of power. But, if you are in an industry where you have to do business with the Federal Government, fighting with Senators is a good way to derail your plans.

I read the SpaceX subreddits, and there is usually something there every month that Musk says something that seems to garner needless criticism. It's not that I even disagree with what he says, just in the manner that he says it. Twitter is a distraction from the unique things that his other companies do. I want Musk's companies plans to pan out, and picking fights doesn't seem to help in that goal.
