There’s sports smack b/t rivals and then there are Utes who make it too personal & too ugly. Many Utes cross a line they don’t even realize exists. Being a fan doesn’t have to be hostile & personal. Yes, other places have fierce rivalries but they aren’t bigots abt it. There’s an underlying respect as humans even if you hate the other school on game day.

The other thing is it’s about the school as a whole, not just a couple good seasons in a sport or two. Or have a few good (not great) seasons thinking you can now jump to blue blood status. It’s thinking everyone in the country knows & cares abt your new found moderate success. It’s rubbing things in when there’s a whole resume that should bring a measure of humility but doesn’t. Funny how so many from so many different schools seem to understand this and find themselves having to explain it to just Utah. Being in the B12 has taught us that being rivals can still be respectful.

Ever feel like you’re the only one in the room who doesn’t get the inside joke? That’s Utah when these types of tweets come out from many different fandoms. It might be a good time to observe & learn awhile.
