Alan Schaefer Walk-on
I agree it’s weird, and comes off bad. And even if he comes out with some
generic statement this week or later, it will feel very empty.

I mean, I hope realizes he LITERALLY would not be making generational wealth, and living his personal dream job WITHOUT BYU.

Maybe it’s possible things got really messy with admin once his departure was imminent? That is the only logical reason I can think of why he would not make any statement, let alone a sincere and heartfelt thank you.

I have zero animosity towards Pope leaving. In my opinion, I believe anyone in their right mind and situation would’ve done the same thing.

I DO think it’s low brow to not in a reasonable amount of time, which has passed, to not thank the institution and people who made this dream happen for him.

And I do NOT want him to take any of our players. But won’t hate him for doing it. That’s part of the culture that is CBB these days, and whoever we hire, as long as it’s not a HS basketball coach(Jesus take the wheel), will also take players with him. So let’s not be hypocritical.

And this is why you’re never getting a statement from Pope thanking BYU (whoneedscorners?, Apr 14, 2024 at 5:39pm)
