For what it is worth, I think you are handling it the right way. To be honest
the kid probably needs another kid to pop him in the mouth rather than some form of teacher punishment that likely doesn't even help the situation (him and your daughter). Life is complex.
When I was a kid, if some boy called a girl a B word, he'd be getting a punch in the face shortly.

I'm sure he does have stuff going on at home, I think as a teacher its your responsibilty to protect all the kids in
