Yes. The 4 down decision making changes an entire drive.
Not that they’d be the same, but the Niners kicked a FG on 4th and 4 from the 9 yard line. If KC had gone first and scored a TD they are obviously going for it.
KC gets 4th and 1 from their own 34 and goes for it after getting completely stuffed on 3rd and 1. There is a chance (not certain) that they punt that ball if it’s the first possession.
Not to mention all types of different play calling on 3rd down when you know you are going for it on 4th.
