My wife's grandpa remarried weeks after my wife's grandma passed away - completely unnanounced to the family. New wife
came in to the home, threw away many pictures, journals, etc of my wife's grandma before my MIL or her siblings could get to them, and wife's grandpa became estranged from the family since.

He passed away 10 years later. My wife and her family went to the service, but they were so estranged that my wife often forgets that he even passed away. No word as far as we know if the inheritance went to any of my MILs siblings (my MIL actually passed away of cancer a few years before her dad passed away, so they haven't stayed as connected to that side of the family).

It was sad because he was a good grandpa for all of my wife's upbringing, but he just seemed to give it all up for the new woman and her 2 adult children who mooched off of them.
