This has less to do with the coaches and more to do with fair weather fans.
Coach Sitake is a good coach and his players love him. This season's record was a price to pay for stepping up to the Big 12. Yes, it was a disappointing season, but I am happy to be in the Big 12 as opposed to independence.
Much better days are ahead.
It wasn't that long ago when CB'ers were jumping all over Coach Pope. Maybe these are the children of BYU fans of yesteryear
who were jumping all over Lavell Edwards and Roger French and Norm Chow and Lance Reynolds and Robert Anae and Ty Detmer... until they left and had success elsewhere.
I remember when John Beck was being booed for his decision-making as an undergraduate starter. I also remember Marc Wilson and Steve Young being booed when they threw interceptions. On the basketball court, fans booed Frank Arnold, too, and Greg Kite and Timo Saarelainen until they became pretty good. Even when Greg Kite graduated, many of our own fans said he was not NBA material.
It's okay to wear blue goggles and cheer when things look bad.
