For a big anniversary a couple of years back we went to the most expensive (I think?) restaurant in our city
with an 11 course tasting menu. I know it was over $500 for the two of us. I don't think it was over $600, but the tip may have put it over?
It was great food, and I'm happy to do it for the experience, but unless you are someone who can pay $1000 and it means no more than paying $10 (I am not), then I don't know if a meal like that can ever said to be "worth" it.
Which is not to say I won't do it again. 🙂
