1. Their record against us for the past several years.

2. They have played on a bigger stage than we have. I know that we like to tease them about celebrating their two Rose Bowl losses, but at least they went. Be honest. If BYU had made it to a Rose Bowl, we would have made a big deal out of it as well.

3. They have gotten multiple players on defense into the NFL.

4. Their brand of defense has been more attractive to recruits than ours, especially to defensive linemen.

5. They have outhustled us on the recruiting trail. Face it - our former defensive staff for the most part were lazy recruiters.

Now all that being said - I think it’s about to change. I am also not as concerned about high school recruiting as I once was, due to the new transfer portal.

Is the honor code a major factor? No - because we would also struggle to recruit on offense as well. It’s a minor factor for sure. Not every recruit is cut out to come to BYU. But there are plenty who are. Andrews is going on a mission. Don’t think the HC was a factor at all in his decision. The Ute deal with the devil is almost over! And they now can’t say that BYU doesn’t put guys in the league. Just not true.
