- Draft Geno Smith in 2013. Struggles year 1 and is benched in year 2. Michael Vick takes over and does no better.
- acquire Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2015 and he does good enough to end with a winning record, but not enough to make the playoffs
- Fitzpatrick regresses in 2016 and is benched for Geno Smith, but then Geno is injured so Fitzpatrick plays more until he is injured. Bryce Petty finishes the year and the Jets stink.
- 2017 McCown plays until he’s injured for the season, and Bruce Petty finishes. The Jets stink.
- In 2018, believing that QB was the only thing holding them back, they draft and start Sam Darnold. The Jets still stink and Darnold plays until he is injured and McCown finishes the year.
- 2019, Darnold starts the year and has is infamous “seeing ghosts” game, but they end up playing 3 different quarterbacks along their way to another losing season.
- 2020, Darnold and Flacco lead the team to 2 wins and the #2 pick.
There is a theme here. Quarterbacks that succeed on other teams either suck or get injured on the Jets. The Jets only have 1 year with a winning record in the past 10 years.
