I've lived in 10 states, and living in Morris County, NJ was in several ways the most idyllic location of all. Our entire town was on the national register of historic places, and for good reason.

I haven't found a state that didn't have both desirable and undesirable places. And yes, I've lived in Louisiana and vacationed in Mississippi, so I have a fairly broad sample.
