He said BYU was the only game every year the team got really hyped/jacked up for. (I’m sure this was the case for many WAC teams) Funny enough he said they lost to BYU all 4 years he was there.

At least they had a winning record that year (6-5). We almost lost to a 1-11 UNM team in 2009.
