Additionally, if they spent time chasing down every scam like this that’s all they would do, and it would never lead to anything.
The best thing they can do is tell the boomers out there to stop… answering… calls… from numbers… you don’t recognize. That would prevent 99% of people from getting scammed.
I tell my 69 year old mother about once a month to stop answering numbers she doesn’t recognize and she does it anyway. She just can’t help worry that maybe, just maybe, it’s a legitimate stranger trying desperately to get ahold of her and if she sends them to voicemail they won’t be able to.
