My 7th grader is betraying me and playing football this fall.
I've done my best to raise him as a soccer player, coaching him personally since he was in kindergarten. But he's giving into social pressure. Middle school football is a whole thing here in Texas...

He's small for his age (like his dad) and lacks any above-average athletic ability (also like his dad), so he'll really just be one of the kids that gets a half dozen snaps per game on the B-team. He's got great technique with a ball at his feet, though, so he might have a future as a kicker. At any rate, I'm hopeful this is a one-and-done experiment, but we'll see. He may surprise me.
