"Could I get the seafood chowder to start, but can I get the without any seafood
in it?"

That was one of the best custom requests I've heard. We were with clients and I couldn't help but laugh. At least it was a short conversation.

Another good one: "Does that salmon come with any sauce? I would like it without sauce. Please no sauce. Actually, does it even touch any sauce in kitchen? I don't want it to touch any sauce. Some places just try to remove the sauce before serving it and just scrape it off. I don't want that. Can you go back an ask the chef it it touches in any sauce? If it does, I'll just get the french dip sandwich with no au jus, horseradish or swiss. And fries. ARe the fries thoroughly cooked? Have them double fry the fries."
