I know it isn’t the PC answer, but there is a lot to be said about having stable influences in a child’s life. This bears out in every racial group and background. No amount of money spent on education and schooling will overcome a lack of support and role models at home, generally speaking.
I know it isn’t always possible to have ideal situations in families but I find it troubling that the exceptions are being celebrated as being equal to what the rule is.
It is so much more difficult to break out of familial cycles, not impossible but harder, if poor choices are made from parents.
I now interpret the scripture about the sins of the parents being passed down for generations to be speaking to situations like this. Anyway, just some random thoughts.
