projections:
Bart Torvik has BYU projected to 10th place in the conference, but 45th overall which would put them squarely on the bubble. Here's where he puts the Big 12 teams at this point:
1 Kansas
6 Houston
21 Texas
22 West Virginia
33 TCU
35 Baylor
38 Texas Tech
42 Iowa St.
44 Kansas St.
45 BYU
54 Oklahoma St.
55 Cincinnati
60 Oklahoma
144 UCF
There is no way about it. Every game in the conference is going to be a challenge. But it's not like BYU is just going to roll over and not be competitive. Sure, their chances of winning the conference are essentially 0, and BYU will lose their fair share of conference games. But we are now in a situation where every game is a Quad 1 or Quad 2 game in conference and as long as we can get close to .500 in conference play (even a couple games below .500 could be good enough) we should have a shot at an NCAA tourney at-large bid.
