I'm the first to admit that GK is taking his sweet time getting this deal done which is unnerving, but many of you talk out of both sides of your mouth. You yell from your megaphones about what a crappy the conference the P12 is, but you're dying to get some of these schools to the big12. There's a reason why nobody is raiding the Big12 after Texas & OU left.
Currently, there's no guarantee in place for p12 teams that they will get the same 31.8 million by joining the b12. Fox hasn't signed off on pro rata payments for expansion teams. Only ESPN has agreed to that.
Also, It's going to be an easier road to get to the playoffs from the P12 than an expanded b12 with 16 teams. Both conferences will see similar playoff distributions in the new system so why move for similar dollars, but possibly a more difficult path.
I'm not arguing that the big12 isn't a better basketball conference. It's not close, but I'll be interested to see how you all feel if you end up being the doormat of the conference. It's not going to be more difficult, it's going to downright wicked hard. From what I'm seeing this year from BYU Basketball there are absolutely no guarantees that recruiting takes a huge bump. Just look up north to see what happens when your basketball program goes sideways.
Personally, I would like to see the P12 and B12 continue on as strong conferences. If the SEC & BiG expand to 20 and form super conferences, we're all left out. I would rather both programs find access through their respective conferences
