Nothing in LOTR comes close to the superfluous blood flow and gore, just abject gore, in that episode.

Just gratuitous gore at times.

An orc pulling an 8 inch wood splinter out of his eye socket as black blood flows and splatters onto the Elf's face. This "scene" lasts for something like 60 seconds as the black blood flows. Several humans gored at point blank in slow motion, full body shots of orcs slowly driving blade into the torsos as the individuals shudder and wail and crumple. Blood pouring from an arrow wound like an aquarium pump.

Not exactly a kids show.
