At dusk on a drive on the 101 a big deer came bounding out of the woods headed for my truck. He slid to a stop and cut back to the woods just in time but he was about a foot from smashing up my drivers side.
Another time I was coming down I-84 at dusk and there was a doe and fawn walking on the shoulder and getting ready to cross. The doe saw me and bolted but the fawn froze… luckily just out of reach. But I think the wind from the RV broke the freeze and pushed him awake. Couldn’t maneuver away there because I had a semi to my left.
I did take out 1 bird about 15 minutes into the trip. Dumb thing flew right into my grill. A coyote ran in front of me at night but I still had 20 yards or so, wasn’t too close a call. I also missed a skunk by a few feet. I did have enough time to veer a bit to ensure I didn’t get that smell on the truck or RV.
