Simple minded. Running the ball eats clock. Some teams run better than they pass

Some offenses are more deliberate than others. We had Anae gfgh trying to win by getting more possessions snapping early every down and throwing a lot. Other teams take their time getting to the line and snap late in the snap count, stay in bounds, and don’t throw much.
And if our offense is so pathetic that opponents can throw it out of rhythm by milking the clock and running the ball - that says more about our offense than it does about our defense.
A good offensive coordinator will play call in ways that create rhythm. That will include running the ball more, short passes with high completion %, and skipping the cute stuff until rhythm is established.
