My then-girlfriend (now wife) visited me at work at Kaplan back in the day.
We walked over to Subzero for some ice cream, which was located in the same mall.

When we left the ice cream place, her car was gone. We called the police who told us it had been towed.

The towing company told us they didn’t have anyone there and that we would have to wait for 45 minutes.

I was incensed. When we got to the towing company, I pretty much threw our ice cream receipt in their face and said “why shouldn’t I sue you for stealing her car?!”

The tow guy told us that “someone had called it in that we had left the parking lot.” Faced with the receipt there was little he could argue, so he said he was “going to release the car not because I was right but because it was the nice thing to do.”

Uh huh.

Tow companies are the worst.
