I worked in Columbus, OH, and tOSU/Michigan football game tickets were a hot commodity. Several of the banks that we worked with would comp my former boss (head of FP&A & Treasury) with tickets, because he asked for them. Rather than share them with his work team (who deserved to benefit from such perks because they did the real work), he collected a bunch of tickets and threw a birthday party for his middle school-aged son and invited all of his son's friends to the big game. He actually had a few leftover tickets for some kids who backed out a few days before the game, and instead of sharing them with the team, he sold them and kept the money. He should have been fired for how badly he abused the corporate gifting policies at our company.
