Bobik is from my stake. Bottom line: overrated. Too impatient. Would have been
fine in due time. Some of these kids think they should go from all everything in high-school to super star in D1 at the snap of a finger.
I hated to see him transfer. Like Ben sen, the local connection was a source of pride. Later we got Pitta from this area and there are 3 or 4 guys in the football pipeline that were from my WRd at one point or another. I say 3 or 4, because IDK what ever happened to Baker after his family moved and his Dad died.
Hanshaw is in the tight end room and two Daley brothers are in the pipeline as well.
I would not have boo'ed Bobik, Olsen, Bronco, or any other former player or coach. Does not seem to be anything positive that could come from that.
Take our current assistant coach, for example. I was in the bleachers at Woodbridge High School about a mile from where I worked at the time when he chose Duke. It was clear that his family was elitist. I believed it was a mistake. Bleachers filled with classmates and BYU fans. Not 1 representative from Duke in attendance. Just another recruit for him.his family delayed the presser an hour waiting for more media to show up. They never did. Would I boo him? No. Even after he transferred to Utah from Duke? No. Even now that he is a popular BYU coach? Of course not. It is too small of a world.
