Compare Disney to a place like Lagoon or Knotts Berry farm in terms of
Experience. Then think of the state fair as an extreme example with a very low cover charge. A lot of the difference comes from the amount people have invested in getting through the door, not just the amount the venue has put into the experience (though higher prices facilitate that, as well).

The crowds are what makes Disneyland awful. I might go back if they found a price point that kept the crowds down

Demand for Disneyland tickets is very inelastic. Raise prices 10% and it only decreases demand by a couple % points.

Staying at the Grand Californian is amazing. You can hop back to the hotel for a nap/swim/etc right from the park.
