Wow! What an amazing production- and what a powerful story!!
I work in an inner city (title 1 school and district) in Houston- and deal with so many of the same issues wit students on a daily basis- watching this video stirred up a lot of emotions- from suicide prevention to adoption to social injustice to social media and being judged by society - whether warranted or not- these kids grow up in such a different world today! Grateful for Chaz’ family, support system- he is not alone in his experiences, unfortunately, and there is so much more we as a society, nation, community can do. It starts by listening and understanding -
Proud of BYU- proud of what they do- I am a lifetime fan and proud to be an alumni.
I shared this with several key members of my staff and several building principals in my district because it reminded me so much of what we see in the students we work with, what is needed to be successful, and what our students deal with on a daily basis. Thank you for making this BYU!!
... and thank you to the Ah You family for being such wonderful parents, and to all those who support adoptions, support students in need, who take action against injustice, and who don’t jump immediately onto the social
Media bandwagon. I deal with young people almost on a daily basis who talk about or make actual attempts at self harm because of how they are impacted by others words or actions (or societies judgements) on social media... all actions have consequences and a lot of times scarring/ damage can’t be seen.
This video really brings that to light / to the foreground- thank you!!
Sorry long/ soap box post- but this struck a chord with me!
