You don't need a large boat to run high volume rivers. I've seen them punch some major waves/holes on the Murtaugh just fine. You can even creek in it if fishing isn't interesting enough:

I've done class 4 rapids on a 10 foot boat. Would not reccomend it. They simply don't have the length to punch through
