...needed extra income, so he went and worked the Cal Ranch gun counter 2-3 evenings a week and a couple of weekends a year. The pay was enough to pay off some debts he wanted to pay - but he also sold enough guns and earned enough incentives that he'd typically get 2 new guns a year while working there. He'd also get some dealer/employee discounts from both work and the manufacturer to the degree that there were some guns he was paying 25% of retail for.
He got a promotion that moved him to another city and was sad to give up the extra job - but I could see doing something like that 1-2 days a week in "retirement".
