In my mind, Pope made the very best of a rough hand dealt him.

Pope's obviously a good guy who commits very personally to his players (like a lot of good coaches out there).

But he's also a coach who's absolutely committed to winning games. Things have to give between those two ideals for a HC. There's just no way around it, of course.
