Nobody is forced to. Just don’t get the same benefit of everyone else having a tougher path
Imo everyone should be in a conference, have to play against similar completion, go through a conference grind, etc if they want the same benefit as those teams in a conference. I think ND should be in a conference if they want access. Same for other independents too
