It a thumbs down, but it was a toss-up between thumbs downand eye roll. Ok, I have some 'splainin' to do:
1. "We told her we are PROBABLY going to list the home for sale by owner" - So, the poster allowed a realtor to come over and see his house because she had buyers he wanted access to. So he told the realtor FSO was probable; leaving the door open for a sales pitch from the realtor. Poster wanted access to her buyers, and intentionally misled her to get her to come see his property on behalf of her buyers. That's how I read it.
2. "She almost immediately started a pitch on how she could help us sell it". - Well...is that not her job? She wasn't told up front there was NO WAY he'd consider listing with her. He wanted her to see the property on behalf of her buyers so he left the door open for her sales pitch. What, I ask in good faith, is wrong with her "pitch"? That's her job. That's probably the only reason she came to "visit".
3. Realtor "went from best friend to complete enemy". With all due respect, I seriously doubt it was all that bad. I DO think she felt misled when the Poster slammed the door in her face and said absolutely not to her pitch. I'm sure she felt like she was being used, manipulated, misled. Oh well, that's the breaks. She needs to be a big girl and deal with it. I'm sure it isn't the first listing she's pitched and lost and won't be her last. But, I doubt she'd have come by for a "Visit" if she'd been told up front there is no way she's getting the listing. And, I doubt she went "complete enemy" on the Poster.
4. "All but said realtors are banning together to not show homes that are not listed by agents" - 🤔 Well, did she say that or not. My guess is NOT. If she had said that, Poster would have told us that she did. He carefully implied it, without committing to a wonton lie/fraudulant statement.
5. "Really left a bad taste in my mouth for realtors. What a crappy bunch of folks if that is really the case" - Where to begin on this one? Let's review: Poster invites realtor over under false pretense (allowing her to think there might be a chance 😊) cuz he wants access to her buyers. Realtor makes sales pitch and Poster slams the door shut. Realtor reacts negatively. Poster implies that realtor admitted to some kind of nepharious collusion among agents to screw over FSBOs, but is careful to just imply it and impugne the realtor's integrity. Post ends by calling realtors "a crappy bunch of folks", then carefully allows himself another "out" by adding "if that really is the case".
Well, I say, if it is the case, say it and accuse her/them. If it's not the case, don't make the accusation/implication and don't impune the realtor or realtors as a group - even with carefully crafted "outs" in your accusation.
To sum up....Sounds like Poster made a bad-faith invitation to realtor who got bent when she realized she got punked, and she abruptly left. Poster then made salacious implications about her and all realtors, but left himself an out in the form of plausible deniability. Poster left himself the fallback "I didn't say she ACTUALLY said that"....I just implied it 😉
