I know there are many opinions on these. Here are my 2 cents.

As background, I’ve read the books many times and always enjoy them. The singing is a bit much, but it doesn’t bother me.

That said, I really enjoyed the LOTR movies. There were some things I wish were done differently, but overall I loved them.

However, the Hobbit movies were quite a disappoint to me. Elf dwarf romance? The white orc? The movie didn’t need all that. It seemed like a cop out/money grab. As much as they worked hard to make LOTR an epic movie, it seems they were lazy on the Hobbit.

In the end, I like the animated one better. Reminds me of when I was a kid and loved the book.
