to #16 BYU in mid November. All of the teams ahead of them and just behind them in the rankings lost at least one more game before the end of the season. The eventual national champ was OU, who was #7 when Air Force lost.

The sad thing is that the BYU-Air Force game should have been between two undefeated and top 5 ranked teams.
