It's not easy and I totally empathize. He's always been a challenge in terms of sleeping (i.e., a very light sleeper, and has a hard time going to sleep much of the time). It's still a challenge and he's 10 now. But it does get easier and better over time.

IIRC, we just had to be dedicated to sleep training and get him used to sleeping on his own.
