memory for me. I think we were close to where this picture was taken. There is some big fireworks show that would draw an enormous crowd (maybe it still does). We were near that area, but we wanted to go somewhere else and ride rides while the huge crowd was watching the fireworks. A wall of humanity came in our direction. The relative few of us wanting to go the other way were forced to almost push our way through the oncoming crowd, at times going single file. It was almost suffocating.
I was ahead of my other family members. I could sense people behind my family starting to grumble and become agitated.
Quick explanatory note: I crack jokes a ton. Most of them are goofy. My wife has the eye roll down to a science. My kids hadn't seen me interact with other adults much and they assumed by default that I never said anything that other adults found funny. Also, it wasn't all that long after Finding Nemo came out.
Anyway, back to the almost frightening push through the sea of oncoming people. Sensing people were struggling I turned around and shouted, "Just. Keep. Swimming." About 30 people behind my family laughed loudly and one of my sons looked shocked to see adults laughing at something I said. That was the first time he had actually considered I might actually be funny sometimes.
