think it was just a perfect storm of bad shooting for the Zags.
Norvell went 0-6 from 3, and they were good looks. He averages 38%. Perkins went 0-3 from 3. He averages 37%. As a team, they shot 2-17 from 3, despite averaging 36.5%. Many shots went in and out.
GU had 1/3 of their usual assists, 3.5 blocks below average, 12 fewer rebounds, and shot 15 percentage points lower than average. It was just a bad off night for everyone.
I don't mean to disparage Bennett's coaching, because he clearly had an effective game plan (I still don't like him or SMC), but the implosion that I watched seemed more like the only unforgivable off-night Gonzaga has had all year than anything else. I'll still project them to the Elite 8 or better, because I think they really are that good. Remember that unranked BYU beat them at home on senior night the year they made the NC game.
