Example of how that can lead to wrongful convictions.
The Handyman who we all thought killed Elizabeth Smart did some VERY suspicious things. Things that any of us would have definately done if we were guilty. And then he killed himself. I was 100% sure he was guilty. But we found out later that he didn't kill her. If I were a juror in that case, I would have wrongfully convicted the guy. For our system to avoid being corrupt we need safeguards in place to make sure murder and rape convictions are 100% true. Even with those safeguards in place we still get wrongful convictions. And yes, that means sometimes guys like OJ Simpson and Josh Powell go free. But they still have to live with thier sorry selves...and Josh couldn't even do that. The system failed his boys though. They should have been protected better.
