I had that kind that wrap around the back as well. I was told by the Birk
worshippers that they would mold to my feet over time and fit like a glove. Fake news.
I gave them a good year or so before ditching them for good. One wasted year of my life where I gave up my dignity in hopes of finding comfort. I did end up getting custom fit orthotics and the plantar fasciitis went away shortly after.
