Our program & school CAN be competitive, I believe--IF we build upon our LDS base (& I mean this in terms of our recruits, our players, & our coaches).
Basketball (moreso than football) is something the LDS community could really dominate--even without a legend like LaVell propping our program up (which we really don't have--all due respect to Andersen, Arnold & Rose). But we need to look outside for solutions much more than we do. It's cost us dearly not doing that over the years.
Heath Schroyer was a belated start--who fortunately fell to us. But he should just be considered a start. Rice SHOULDA been a good start years ago — but unfortunately we chose not to build on that.
