Men of Cougarboard (and the 4 or 5 progressive-pants-wearing ladies who have joined the CB Elder's quorum),
The "BYU Sailor Cougar" is not a lame logo. It is an awesome logo! Stop saying it doesn't make sense for a cougar in Utah to be wearing a sailor's hat and that he obviously isn't in the Navy.
That truth is that it's not even a sailor's hat, it is a freshman cap, and it's a cool, old-school, alternate logo. I don't know why many BYU fans are insecure about it. Do Utah fans make fun of the sailor hat and you don't know what to say? They're still trying to remember if their "U" hand sign tradition is 5 or 7 years old.
Lot's of storied programs have an alternate logo of their mascot wearing a freshman cap (and some it is their primary logo). You know, loser programs, like Alabama, Texas, Michigan, UCLA, Cal, UNC, LSU, Arkansas, Washington, Oregon, Miami, and yes, BYU, programs nobody cares about.
The fact is, it shows how long the BYU brand has been around, and that the tradition of the school goes way back like many other storied programs throughout the nation. Love the cap, own the cap, be the cap, and wear the cap, with pride.
