The offense put up 32 pts and over 500 yards in a road loss vs West Virginia and
averaged 28 points a game over the course of the season.
People routinely overstate the offensive shortcomings of 2016. No, the offense wasn't great, but it was not terrible.
People also overstate the advantage of having Taysom - the dude was clearly not fully recovered from his Lisfranc injury, he was playing 10 pounds over his usual weight and didn't have any of the explosiveness that defined him earlier in his career and that he has got back now that his Lisfranc injury is fully healed.
People also discount the ragtag OL that Ty had to put Taysom behind in the first half of the season (which is when the worst offensive performances occurred) - he was starting two imports from SUU and rotating to scrawny, underweight freshmen OL.

Well, when you consider what Fowler and BYU SN was saying in fall camp they definitely didn’t see a bad season coming
