Independence is not sustainable long term. Multiple people have said so. It is serving its purpose right now. If BYU gets into a P5 conference it will be much more prepared. Utah had several years that they simply couldn’t compete in the PAC 12. Now they are able to stay right in the middle and will get the occasional special year. That is what BYU needs to get to.

I think college football as it currently stands is not sustainable. There are 5-10 teams that are actually profitable for these networks. The networks will figure out how to pay the big dogs and the others will be left holding the bag.

In the meantime enjoy playing in cool venues and the team will get the kinks ironed out and get back on track. Support the coaches and support the team. That doesn’t mean you have to be all sunshine and rainbows but it’s not nearly as bad as fans are making it out to be. Kalani is the same awesome coach he was before the season started.
