- Week 12 – #3 BYU (10-0) @ UNLV (3-6) – Sat, Nov 11, 8:15pm – Sam Boyd Stadium, LV, NV – ESPNU
o Ah…Vegas in November…on a day that sees snow on the Wasatch front it’s nice to be in “Provo South”. In an unprecedented move an anonymous UNLV donor purchased over 1000 tickets to try and keep the crowd more Rebel-centric but the plan blew up in his face as BYU fans were still able to fill the stadium at whatever price and those 1000 “UNLV tickets” most of them never got used.
o BYU is becoming known for their defense and has a streak of TEN straight quarters without being scored on. For at least the first half they continue that streak jumping all over the Rebels and making them look more outmatched than a UNLV coed and a sobriety test.
o Tanner throws TD passes of 23 (Shumway), 14 (Bushman) and 3 (El Bakri) as well as runs in for his own from 8 yards out to give BYU a 28-0 halftime lead. After leading BYU on another scoring drive to open the 2nd half (Squally caps it off with a 5 yard run), Hoge comes in and plays the rest of the game, giving Tanner some needed rest.
o UNLV breaks the streak at 13 when they nail a FG in the 4th. BYU crushes the Rebels 45-3.
o Player of the game – Entire Defense – 13 straight scoreless quarters!
