If people have their heels dug in at $800, they're probably not going to budge at $1,200 either. I've never found myself in a situation where they're offering up to $800 - I've taken several offers at $400 and been giddy to do so. For $800, I'd have taken the offer and, if I had to be in Louisville by the next morning, I'd just get a one-way car rental and drive down that night from O'Hare.
