fire. I could add another 1100 square feet, and stay right where I'm at, and from what I've read it looks like it would cost 40K-50K. Or I could drop an additional 100K to get the same extra square footage on a bigger house.

You can't dig out beneath the footings and you have to pour new footings and

In a hot housing market, usually contractor prices sky rocket as well...

If you have room on your lot, build an addition. It is a much less expensive
